Nelly Yoa avoids jail time following appeal

County Court of Victoria

Serial fantasist Nelly Yoa has avoided jail time after he successfully appealed his sentence yesterday.

Yoa, who works in Ballarat, was sentenced to five months' jail after he pleaded guilty to counts of perjury and making false statements to police after he alleged he was threatened by a woman with at his home in Dandenong in 2016.

The 31 year old appealed the sentence immediately in June and was released on bail with strict conditions.

He will now serve a strict three year community corrections order, which Judge Trevor Wraight said he made purposely difficult to ensure compliance.
