They say every dog has its day, and yesterday was certainly one for the books for a local kelpie.
CFA crews were called to rescue Boofa from a mine shaft in Dereel around 10am yesterday after he had fallen down the five metre shaft a week ago.
His worried owners hadn't seen their beloved pup in a week, and went searching for him after a local resident said he could be in bushland along Spearys Road.
After calling his name they heard Boofa's faint barks and called the CFA to help rescue the kelpie.
The Dereel CFA called in the technical crew from Geelong and hoisted Boofa out of the mine shaft in a puppy harness to reunite him with his relieved owners.
As one spokesperson from the CFA said, it was a "pawsitively" good result for all.
