Wild weather sees Ballarat drenched, homes lose power

Thunderstorm

Ballarat received a drenching last night as a cold front moved through western Victoria from South Australia.

The region received 11mm of rain between 7pm and midnight last night, and a 57k/h wind speed blew through Ballarat shortly after 8pm.

While the storm saw several homes without power, with Powercor reporting outages to just under 700 homes around Sebastopol shortly before 9pm.

Power was restored around midnight, while around 110 customers around Warrenheip and Lal Lal are still waiting for their services to be reconnected.

A spokesperson for Powercor this morning has confirmed that power should be restored to those homes by 11:30am.

It isn't the last of the rain the region will see either, with a shower or two still likely for much of today and tomorrow, right into the weekend.
