Locals in the Cardigan Village, west of Ballarat have organised a petition to retain their long-serving postie.
After years of service, Lyn McNeight's contract ends in 2 weeks and won't be renewed after she was told her tender application was unsuccessful, and has begun saying her teary goodbyes to locals in the area.
Locals are using the hashtag #SavePostieLyn and are aiming to flood Australia Post with messages of support.
Australia Post however says regular contract reviews were held, with parties invited to tender their application.
A new contractor has since been appointed, who will start the delivery rounds from July 1.

"As part of our regular annual review of mail contracts, we invited parties to tender their interest in the mail delivery contract servicing the Cardigan Village area."
"Following a robust tender process, we appointed a new contractor, and can confirm there will be no changes to delivery services from July 1."
