Tomorrow marks a special day in the Ballarat basketball calendar.
Tomorrow is its 70th anniversary of its first ever round of matches held for the first time on June 14, back in 1949.
It’s been a big 70 years for the sport here in Ballarat, and has gone from strength to strength.
The first games were played at Wesley Hall, before moving to an Olympic sized court on Camp Street at the YMCA.
The first two court stadium was built in 1969, which is now known as the Mars Minerdome.
Plus the sport's popularity shows no signs of slowing down, with the new Ballarat Sports and Events Centre opening next month, which will boast eight courts for keen players regardless of their skill levels.
