Locals will be able to have their say on road safety when a community roundtable comes to Ballarat.

Announced by the Minister for Roads Jaala Pulford yesterday, the state government will hold eight road safety discussions around Victoria in the coming months to try and reduce the spiralling road toll, and curb the issues affecting local communities.

Ideas and discussions brought forward during the events will be then taken on board by the state government, as they develop the next road safety strategy.

So far this year 144 people have died on Victorian roads, compared to 88 this time last year.
