People affected by today's Mt Clear fire are asked to attend a Community Information meeting from 6pm tonight at the Buninyong Community Centre in Forest St.
The City of Ballarat has also set up a relief centre nearby in the Buninyong Recreation Reserve.
The 19ha blaze was officially brought under control just after 4pm this afternoon, although a Watch and Act message is still in place for the area immediately around the blaze.
Police say they believe the fire began as a campfire that had not been properly extinguished.
The first calls came into emergency services at 11.28am.
All up, 38 CFA vehicles were called in, three water bombing aircraft from Ballarat and Colac and personnel from Forest Fire Management Victoria and Central Highlands Water.
