Fire crews will continue to monitor a fire at Buangor.

The grassfire started around 2pm  yesterday afternoon near the the Western Freeway.

There was an emergency warning for the fire but it has since been downgraded to an advice.

Vic Emergency says the Western Highway will remain closed in both directions until tree assessments and removal of dangerous trees is completed.

The Advice message is in place for for Ballyrogan, Buangor, Dobie and Warrak.

There is currently no threat but people are being urged to stay informed and monitor conditions and keep the surrounding roads clear so emergency services can respond.
