Ballarat horse trainer Darren Weir has been disqualified from racing for four years after a hearing with the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board.
It comes after three electrical devices known as jiggers were found at Weir’s property in the master bedroom,
The purpose of a jigger is to shock a horse in training and then simulate the action on race day to make a horse think it is about to be shocked again.
Two members of the board voted for a four year ban however one member wanted five years.
It follows police raids at his Miners Rest stables and four Warrnambool properties last Wednesday.
The ban is effective immediately.
