Ballarat saw a slight jump in Covid cases yesterday.

101 new infections were added in the last 24 hours, the active tally now 760.

It comes as the Ballarat Base Hospital yesterday issued a warning of high demand in its Emergency Department.

"Grampians Health – Ballarat is experiencing high demand across services, and long waits in our Ballarat Base Hospital Emergency Department."

"The most seriously ill or sickest patients will always be seen first. If you do come to ED and experience a long wait time, please be patient and respectful," the hospital said via a statement.

Meantime, Ballarat MP Catherine King has needed to attend the Australian Local Government Association National General Assembly via video link after the federal member contracted COVID.

The Minister for Local Government was key speaker at yesterday's conference.
