The Executive Chairman of Ballarat based truck-trailer manufacturer Maxitrans says the future of manufacturing in the city is bright, despite recent challenges.
Speaking to Radio Ballarat, Greg L'Estrange says skills development will be key.
"We have a plan for the facility going forward, its well advanced and we have to make some decisions on that this year."
"Hopefully we can take it to another level."
"If we are going to compete internationally, we have to have the right facilities to match with the right skills, that's why we are putting 130 people through skills development," Mr L'Estrange said.
Maxitrans, who have been manufacturing in Ballarat for almost 50 years, have their first ever public open day this Sunday with around 1000 people expected to attend.
