Day one of jabs for kids aged 5 to 11 at Ballarat's state-run vaccination hub has been described as a success.

Around 250 youngsters rolled up their sleeves to receive the Pfizer jab at the Main Road facility on Monday.

Executive Director of Primary and Community Care at the Grampians Public Health Unit Craig Wilding says supply isn't an issue.

"We have 6 dedicated cubicles to look after the kids and families and we have had bookings come through, we still have appointments for next week."

"Our supplies of the vaccine have been very solid, we don't have any problems there," Mr Wilder said.

Meantime, demand for PCR tests at Ballarat's Creswick Road testing site is still high, but wait times appear to have dramatically reduced with the average now only about 2 hours.

Only a small queue spilled into the service lane just after 9am yesterday morning.

The 4Cyte drive-through is Skipton Street has also reopened after being shut to help process the backlog of swabs.
