Despite the head of the Grampians Public Health Unit stating that there are three reasons to get tested today, the Creswick Road facility is now shut.
Its understood many other state run centres have also closed as authorities struggle to deal with a surge in demand for PCR tests.
Speaking to Radio Ballarat this morning Professor Rosemary Aldrich said there are currently only three reason to seek a PCR test.
"Get tested if you are symptomatic, a household contact of a positive case or if you are seeking a confirmatory PCR following a positive RAT test."
"If you can put off your confirmatory test until tomorrow that would be recommended, "Professor Aldrich said.
With the closure of the site and near impossibility of buying a Rapid Antigen Test Ballarat health authorities have urged anyone with symptoms to simply stay at home until you can get a test.
