Protective Service Officers are among measures being considered to curb crime on Little Bridge Street.

Superintendent Frank Sells says the area is an important focus for police, following alarming incidents of late, one of which involved a meat clever.

He say an increased presence will be deployed in the lead up to Christmas.

"Certainly in the lead up to Christmas you will see more and more police on foot, rather than in vehicles going down into the area," he said.
