The Ballarat Community Health CEO has welcomed the city’s skyrocketing first dose vaccination rate which has moved past 95%, but says people still need to come back for the second.

Sean Duffy says there’s an increasing gap between partially and fully vaccinated residents and urgency can dip after the first jab.

"What's really critical but hasn't been spoken a lot about is that people need to make that choice to go back for their second."

"There's still a bit of a gap but when we start to see that above 80% then we'll be really pleased," Mr Duffy said.

Meantime, if you have any questions about getting vaccinated an online forum will be held tonight.

Its being run by Ballarat Health Services and will feature representatives from the Grampian's Public Health Unit, the Ballarat Regional Multicultural Council and Ballarat & District Aboriginal Cooperative.

The forum will provide information and answer questions from the community on the available COVID-19 vaccinations.

Join live via https://www.facebook.com/BallaratHealthServices from 7pm.
