More than 95% of eligible Ballarat residents over the age of 15 have now had their first dose of a Covid vaccine according to the latest Commonwealth Government data.

That's well up on the national average of 85% and about 7 percentage points ahead of the state average.

Ballarat has also broken through the 70% mark for double dosed people.

Meantime new Covid cases remain low in Ballarat despite some confusion over what yesterday's number actually was.

A state government press release says the city recorded 3 new cases, however the interactive map says 4.

Other regional areas didn't fare so well with 38 new infections in Geelong and 29 in Latrobe.
