Only one new Covid case in Ballarat despite regional surge

One hundred and twenty two new coronavirus cases were recorded in regional Victoria yesterday with about a quarter of them in locked down Mildura.

Ballarat added just a single case, with four in Moorabool and one in the Hepburn Shire.
 
Ballarat now has an active virus tally of fifty six.
 
It comes as Ballarat's first dose vaccination rate pushes past 90% for the first time with the city now on 92.2% of all people 15 years and older.
 
Second jabs now sit at 63.5% well up on the state average of 59.3%
 
Its believed the halving of the Pfizer second shot interval to just three weeks is having a positive impact.
