The state government has activated a Regional Response Unit to support the Ballarat outbreak of Covid-19.
The unit will meet with council and health services, as well as relevant arms of government such as police and housing services, this afternoon.
COVID Commander Jeroen Weimar says the unit will support a major testing drive over the days and weeks ahead.
"Their job is to provide full support to the wider community and support you as we go through a really big testing and vaccination drive over the days and weeks ahead," he said.
"We will also ensure good communication and coordination of a wider support effort."
Weimar says additional testing capacity will be set up and test sites will operate under extended hours.
"I encourage anyone who is symptomatic to come forward and get tested," he said.
