Power goes out and trees down as wild weather strikes Ballarat


Ballarat is once again being battered by a severe cold front as winter makes its presence known.

The city received a peak wind gust of 76Kph just after 1am this morning.
Vic Emergency says areas such as Kyneton, Mount Macedon and Daylesford could receive destructive gusts up to 125Kph.
A raft of weather warnings have been issued including numerous flood watches.
The wild weather has seen Powercor kept busy with widespread power outages just after 4am.
At one stage around 5500 customers were impacted in Ballarat North and East, Black Hill, Soldiers Hill and the Ballarat CBD.  State-wide around 80,000 customers were off the grid at differing stages.
