City of Ballarat Councillor Mark Harris is calling for financial transparency around any new deal between Ballarat and the Western Bulldogs AFL side.

It comes as the club enters talks with the City to secure more home and away games, with the current contract expiring this year

Cr Harris says ratepayers should know how much a new deal will be worth.

"People want to know this information, its imperative if you're spending rate payers money that these negotiations are out in the open," Cr Harris said.

Council has previously sited 'commercial in confidence' as the reason behind not revealing what the current contract is worth.

Meantime, The Bulldogs made it 4 wins on the trot for season 2021 with a 19 point win over Brisbane in testing conditions at Ballarat's Mars Stadium on Saturday.

The Dogs return to Ballarat for their second and final match of the year against the Gold Coast in round 18.
