Sport returns as United claim first Ballarat victory


Western United have finally got the win they've been looking for in Ballarat.

In a strong showing in warm conditions at Mars Stadium on Saturday night, the Green and Black were ruthless with a 4 - 1 win over A-League new comers Macarthur FC.
Superstar recruit Besart Berisha scored 2 goals to take his all time tally to 138, placing him second for most goals in professional football nationally.
United have another game planned later in the year in Ballarat although at this stage no date or opponent has been revealed .
Meantime, perfect conditions greeted rowers for the delayed Head of the Lake yesterday.
High winds saw the event cancelled on Friday but that didn't upset the Ballarat Grammar boys crew in the firsts coming home by 6 seconds ahead of St Patrick's College.
In the girls Ballarat & Clarendon College were too strong getting the win over Grammar with Loreto College in third.
Cricket also returned to ovals around Ballarat with the BCA hosting a double header weekend. Wendouree moved to the top of the table after a victory over Mt Clear.
