Ballarat Health Service's Rapid Response Testing Team (RRTT) was sent to the South Australian border at 5am yesterday.

They'll undertake Covid-19 testing at the Nhill Trailer Exchange on the Western Highway following the outbreak in Adelaide, with another site to be set up at Edenhope in the coming days. The RRTT is being supported by local health services and Councils in both locations.

Voluntary asymptomatic testing is now available to interstate truck drivers at this site as part of the state’s ongoing monitoring of the South Australian COVID-19 situation.

Ballarat Health Services CEO Dale Fraser said the outbreak in Adelaide and subsequent lockdown is a reminder for the community to remain alert to the risk of COVID-19.

“Our community has collectively worked so hard to be free of COVID-19, however we have witnessed some complacency that is concerning given that we know how easily the virus can be transmitted,” Mr Fraser said.

“The situation in Adelaide is a reminder that we should all be on our guard and following the COVID-19 restrictions like mask wearing and physical distancing for the safety of our community."

Local appointments can be made for COVID-19 testing at the UFS Lucas clinic on 4311 1571.
