More details on what the state governments public housing blitz looks like for Ballarat are expected to be known this morning.
Yesterday the Premier announced the building of 12,000 public and community homes worth $5.3 billion.
Around 25% of the investment is earmarked for regional areas, however what that exactly means for Ballarat at this stage remains unclear.
The investment will deliver 9,300 new social housing homes – including replacing 1,100 old public housing units.
The government says it will help Aboriginal Victorians, pensioners, Victorians with disability, family violence victims and single parent families find their feet.
“This will change lives – giving thousands of Victorians the security and stability of a home, and tens of thousands of Victorians a job," said Premier Daniel Andrews.
“It’s a profound investment in a stronger, fairer Victoria – a Victoria that recognises everyone deserves a place to call home.”
Juliana Addison, the State Member for Wendouree and Michaela Settle, the State Member for Buninyong will unveil more details for Ballarat, Golden Plains and Moorabool local government area's at 10am today.
