Committees for Cities unite in call to ease restrictions

The Committee for Ballarat is one of six 'Committee's for Cities' that has written to the state government demanding Regional Victoria opens up ahead of metro Melbourne.

The call comes given the low rate of coronavirus cases in the regions with the data suggesting the easing of restrictions should be possible. It follows a similar move by Victorian Chambers of Commerce earlier in the week which included Commerce Ballarat.

The letter reads;

"Any further delay in moving to the Final Step for regional Victoria would seem to disregard the Victorian Government’s own assertion that lifting restrictions must be driven by data. The data for regional Victoria meets the Government’s stated targets."

Not assisting the campaign are 3 new cases of coronavirus in Shepparton reported by the DHHS last night.

The other committees behind the joint campaign include Geelong, Gippsland, Echuca / Moama, Portland and Shepparton.
