Miners Rest PS redevelopment gets underway today

The first sod will be turned on the Miners Rest Primary School upgrade this morning.

The $21 million redevelopment will see the school expand on its current site at Dundas Street.
 
The project includes 10 new classrooms, a competition grade gymnasium and football oval with the new sporting facilities open for the public to use.

Jaala Pulford MP, Member for Western Victoria Region and Juliana Addison MP, Member for Wendouree will represent the Minister for Education at the official sod turn at 10.30am.

Also in attendance will be Principal Dale Power and student leaders from the school.

The works will be carried out by local construction firm H Troon.

The number of students at the school has trebled over the last 9 years to sit at around 450.
