Plans in place for new Ballarat volunteering and charity hub

Ballarat could be set for a new volunteer and charity hub.

The Ballarat Foundation will today launch an ambitious plan to create the facility at its outdated Chatham House building in Lydiard Street South.

The project aims to provide a modern, innovative centre to bring together not–for-profit and volunteering-involving organisations and collaboratively support more community members to re-engage through the recovery from the pandemic and beyond.

"The Ballarat Foundation’s vision for this centre is to support and grow our community through collaboration with volunteers, not-for-profit and community organisations in a modern, central facility which will be accessible and active,” said Wayne Weaire, Ballarat Foundation Chair.

“We are calling on support from all levels of government as a way of bolstering a grassroots response to these most difficult of times,” Mr Weaire said.

The hub, valued at more than $2 million dollars still requires $1.7 million to make it a reality.
