A new study has found universities located in regional and rural Australia are providing a significant contribution to our nation's economy.
It found that in 2018 the Regional Universities Network, which includes Ballarat's Federation University, helped deliver $2.4 billion in real GDP and created 11,300 jobs; a 41% increase since 2015.
The findings come alongside calls to pass the Morrison Government's Job-Ready Graduates legislation.
Chair of the Regional Universities Network, Professor Helen Bartlett, believes the legislation will have a positive impact on students, jobs and local economies.
Professor Bartlett recently departed Federation University taking up the Vice Chancellor position at the University of the Sunshine Coast.
