Ballarat locals should have a clearer idea by this afternoon of who’s running in this year’s council elections in its 3 wards.
Nominations for candidates close at midday ahead of next month’s postal vote.
The Victorian Electoral Commission says the council’s election manager will hold a ballot draw to determine the listing on the ballot paper.
The draw is normally a public affair with candidates and the media invited, however this year will be held in private due to the current coronavirus restrictions.
The VEC says ballots will be sent out during the first week of October and must be returned by the 23rd October. Voting is compulsory.
