Nominations are now open for Victoria's local council elections which will take place by postal ballot this October.
Candidates have until midday this Tuesday to make their nomination with new requirements coming into effect, including a mandatory online training course.
Deputy Electoral Commissioner, Liz Williams, says anyone who wants to run for the City of Ballarat council and other local councils should check their eligibility and make sure they nominate before the deadline.
"All elections are being conducted by post this year with nominations closing this coming Tuesday the 22nd September at 12pm.
"Local residents, including prospective candidates can find more information at www.vec.vic.gov.au ," Ms Williams said.
The current City of Ballarat council held its last meeting before the elections last night.
