The City of Ballarat is about to place a security guard in the botanical gardens after another senseless act of vandalism.
The floral clocks arms have been damaged for a second time since November, the last repair bill was $5500.
It follows the damage caused to around 20 statues last month in the Prime Ministers Avenue including the theft of two heads.
Council Chief Executive Officer Evan King says installing better CCTV remains an option as the city prepares a repair plan.
“We’re looking at putting some permanent security up there.”
“So, at the moment we have roving security that does drive-bys at certain intervals.”
“We’re going to put some permanent security up there just at the moment while we look at other options, for example do we need more CCTV?” Mr. King said.
Mr. King confirmed that Ballarat’s public art is insured.
