Select Grampians region health clinics have begun offering Mpox vaccine bookings.
The virus, formerly known as Monkeypox, began spreading internationally last year.
Victorians were put on alert in May when Australia’s first confirmed Monkeypox case was detected in a returned traveler to Melbourne from the UK.
Mpox can be spread from person-to-person through skin-to-skin contact, contact with
contaminated surfaces or objects, and respiratory droplets.
Booking can be made at Springs Medical Daylesford, UFS Medical Doveton Street and Ballarat Community Health.
It is recommended that individuals discuss the Mpox vaccine with their GP as eligibility criteria has
recently been expanded.
