The Ballarat Miners are yet to announce a return for powerful centre Zitina Aokuso, but she’ll be spending plenty of time on home soil this year.
Sydney has been announced as the host of the 2023 FIBA Women’s Asia Cup from 26 June – 2 July at Quaycentre in Sydney Olympic Park, while Aokuso is listed in the Australian Opals 2023 squad.
She brought home a bronze medal from the Asia Cup competition when it was last held in Jordan in 2021 along with Miners teammate Abby Wehrung.

As a Miner, Aokuso averaged 17 points per game in 2022, but with the Opals National Training camp being held from March 31 – April 5 it looks unlikely Aukuso will be joining the Miners when the NBL1 South season kicks off on April 1.
