A 17-year-old from the Ballarat region has been charged after an incident at Melbourne’s Avalon Airport yesterday afternoon.
The boy, wearing a high-vis jacket, allegedly entered a Jetstar plane with a loaded shotgun.
The teenager was tackled to the ground by passengers on the flight and held until police arrived.
No-one was physically injured during the incident.
Police allegedly found two bags and a vehicle belonging to the boy, with the Bomb Response Unit called as a precaution.
The boy has been charged with a number of offences, including unlawfully taking control of an aircraft, and will appear at a children’s court at a later date.
