Soaring demand, sicker patients and staff furloughing have all contributed to unwanted records for Ambulance Victoria.
In Ballarat there was a 15% increase in Code 1 call-outs for the December quarter however ambo’s were faster getting to the cases than the same time in 2021.
“Across the state, October to December was the busiest quarter in Ambulance Victoria’s history with paramedics called to a record 100,234 Code 1 cases,” said Stuart Reid, Ambulance Victoria Grampians Regional Director.
“In the face of this record demand and the impacts of COVID-19 on our lives, our dedicated paramedics in the Grampians Region continue to do an amazing job delivering world-class care to our patients,” he said.
Ambulance Victoria says it has recruited 1300 paramedics over the past two years to help cope with the record demand.
