An agronomist from Clunes, who is aiming for horse paddocks not to be the worst on a farm, has won a significant grant.
Emma Goodall has picked up a $7000 AgriFutures acceleration grant to boost her plan to make agronomically sound grasses for horses.
Emma says she’s aiming to reduce the angst between horse people and the ag community.
“Horses are selective grazes, they eat the equivalent of chocolate out of the paddock and leave all the good bits behind which then means you end up with over-grazing and weed incursion.”
“That’s normally when commercial farms and partners in farming arrangements start muttering about the proverbial horse paddock down the back,” Ms. Goodall said.
Applications for the 2024 AgriFutures Rural Women’s Acceleration Grant will open in September 2023.
