A Sunday scorcher in Ballarat will see train speeds reduced

With a top temperature of 36 degrees forecast for Ballarat on Sunday, V/Line has made the early call to implement an extreme heat timetable.

Extreme heat speed restrictions are enforced when temperatures exceed 36 degrees to reduce the likelihood of train and track faults, while also keeping passengers safe.

V/Line says when an extreme heat timetable is in place, journey times may be extended because of reduced train speeds.

Impacted lines on Sunday February 4th include;

  • Ararat
  • Ballarat
  • Bendigo
  • Echuca
  • Maryborough
  • Swan Hill
  • Seymour
  • Shepparton

There will be drinking water on board trains and passengers are also encouraged to travel with bottled water and wear cool clothing.
