Major patching of 50,000m2 of the Western Freeway to the east of Ballarat has begun.
Works are underway between Hopetoun Park to Leigh Creek and Gordon to Myrniong at a cost of $9.2 million.
Michael Bailey from the Department of Transport & Planning says the weather has been conducive so far.
“We had the Minister out on Tuesday having a look at some of these sites, it’s about 50,000m2 of major patching.”
“That is the longer-term solution to what people will have seen in terms of potholes which we can only do in certain weather conditions, we’ve now got the weather conditions so we’re punching out that patching as quickly as we can,” Mr. Bailey said.
The works should be wrapped up by the end of May, weather permitting.
