Penance - Staged Reading
Sun 27 Oct 2019 02:00 pm to 05:00 pm
Who will protect the victims of those who hide behind the confessional? What is to be their penance? Are recitations of prayers and rosaries enough to cleanse their would of crimes against humanity?
Penance, by Sara Jarrold, is a play "of exquisite relevance to the problem of sexual abuse in the Catholic Church today." It has been described as "absorbing, thought provoking", "intense and sensitive" and with a "brilliant twist".
Penance will be presented as a staged reading for the first time in Ballarat at Trades Hall. Directed by local theatre-maker Megan J Riedl and performed by Damien Pree, Sarah Spaven, Tim Harris, Ryan Tracey and Craig Coulson.
Proudly supported by LOUD fence and Ballarat Trades Hall. All proceeds from the performance will be donated to the Ballarat Victims' Memorial Fund.
The play reading will be followed by a Q & A forum.
All tickets $10.
