Ballarat's Celebration Of Footy

Celebration of Footy Kicks Off

Ballarat is in the grips of footy fever after the City of Ballarat officially launched its Celebration of Footy.

With history to be made in Ballarat on 19 August 2017, when the Western Bulldogs take on Port Adelaide at Ballarat’s new Mars Stadium, the City of Ballarat has officially launched a series of football inspired events to celebrate this significant AFL milestone.

Ballarat’s Celebration of Footy will feature a range of fun, footy-themed events for the Ballarat community and sports fans including a Community Open Day and Official Opening of Mars Stadium, a Sports Night, and a free Footy Live Site. Ballarat will also host a special event for pet bulldogs and their owners, The Bull-Doggie-Do, where participants can enter competitions for their chance to win a range of incredible prizes and giveaways.

As part of the Celebration of Footy Campaign launch, the big screen at Mars Stadium lit up with a special message to celebrate AFL in Ballarat. City of Ballarat Mayor Cr Samantha McIntosh was joined by her Councillor colleagues, the Ballarat Memorial Concert Band donned with Western Bulldog scarves and their instruments, and Western Bulldogs Ballarat Engagement Manager Brett Goodes.

This exciting Round 22 AFL Premiership Season encounter on 19 August has been made possible due to a partnership between the City of Ballarat, State Government and the Western Bulldogs, which has delivered the $21.976 million Mars Stadium redevelopment.
