HELP FOR A HERO - 3BA MARKING THE LEAD UP TO REMEMBRANCE DAY

These days Gary Charnock is a humble Creswick greengrocer.

You can donate to "Help For a Hero" trust fund at any Bendigo Bank

But long before that he was an elite British SAS soldier trapped upside down and injured in a car bombed by the IRA.

It's a riveting story - and one that has left all sorts of scars.

Gary now wants to help fellow veterans and emergency workers affected by Post Traumatic Stress - and he's penned an enchanting childrens book to raise money.

'The Adventures of Sniffer and Flutter' tells the tale of a hedgehog, a butterfly and a bird who manage to help each other out. Gary says he used to draw his characters during breaks on assignment and his children would colour them in at home.  Now he is sharing those characters with the world.

The book is available at Creswick Country Fresh in Albert St.
